Construction Tutor
Job Purpose
LMP Group are looking for experienced tutor to deliver the BTEC Construction and Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Construction / Level 1 Award in Health and Safety within a Construction Environment for LMP Employability. The role involves accredited delivery and assessment activities.
The role will be teaching via Teams to adults aged 19+ to guide and support their learning and achievement of level 1 construction qualifications.
The successful candidate is required to plan lessons effectively and ensure that activities are differentiated towards individual learner needs. Alongside this you will need to deliver training, coaching and assessment that effectively assists learners to develop vocational skills to prepare learners for work.
Responsibilities
The below listed tasks/responsibilities are not exhaustive:
- Plan lessons effectively and ensure that activities are innovative and differentiated towards individual learners, and that learner support is effectively assessed, reviewed, implemented, and evaluated throughout the learner’s journey.
- Monitor learner’s progression and ensure all forms of teaching, learning and assessment for each element of the qualification is completed enabling learners to meet the criteria for achievement of the chosen qualification.
- Train, assess, motivate, mentor and support learners, assisting them to develop personal and social skills to better prepare them for work, progression, and life.
- Take part in standardisation and team meetings and undertake continuing professional development as required.
- Deliver outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment to learners.
- Undertake regular and meaningful reviews with learners to ensure they remain engaged on the program and that they are progressing well relative to their initial starting point.
- Promote, and deliver training in accordance with qualification and center guidelines, including the promotion of equality and diversity and prevent in lessons.
- Adhere to all statutory responsibilities and ensure Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Prevent policies and procedures are followed at all times.
- Maintain high standards of quality and compliance and complete all contractual paperwork and documentation as required.
- Maintain learner records accurately, and ensure all evidence for all visits is readily available and accessible for audit and quality purposes.
- Implement any improvements identified as a result of performance reviews and internal quality assurance.
- To develop and maintain own professional and occupational knowledge, skills, and experience, including formal training, CPD and networking with fellow professionals. Incorporating self-reflection to improve practice.
- Ensure English and math is embedded into delivery as required or delivered stand alone as needed.
Qualifications (Essential)
- Must have Level 2 Functional Skills English, Math, ICT
- Level 3 Award Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement or equivalent.
- PTLLS/ AET, CET or DET Qualified (or equivalent)
- Experience working in the Construction industry
- In depth understanding of delivering BTEC and Highfield qualifications in construction
Qualifications (Desirable)
- Level 4 Award in Quality Assurance of Assessment Process and Practice or equivalent
- SEND qualifications
- Teaching Degree or PGCE
Experience
- Proven experience of online/classroom-based learning, teaching, and assessment History of working with people with complex barriers to progression, and adults aiming to enter/reenter employment
- Experience of internal quality assurance and knowledge of awarding body requirements
- Proven track record delivering BTEC / Highfield vocational qualifications in construction

- Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to engage with young people, colleagues and school staff
- Excellent communication skills verbal and written.
- Ability to plan and organise own lessons and assessment unsupervised
- Able to meet and exceed retention and achievement targets for qualifications and progression
- A positive, approachable team player with a can-do attitude
